Novamedia is a marketing and media company with a social mission.
Novamedia believes that the world benefits from strong social organisations and well-informed citizens. There are social organisations either to provide direct help or to strive for sustainable improvements in the way society is organised. In both cases, knowledge and good organisation play a major role.
The two pillars of Novamedia:
In order to achieve the ideal of strong social organisations, Novamedia looks for permanent sources of income, support and inspiration to assist them.
From experience, we know that a lot of the energy of these organisations goes into raising funds. However, there is sometimes a lack of financial acumen when it comes to organising fundraising effectively. For this purpose, Novamedia sets up charity lotteries worldwide to provide financial support for organisations and initiatives of an idealistic nature. These lotteries also raise awareness of the work of these social organisations through television programmes, print and the Internet. Novamedia is the owner of various brands and lottery formats, including the Dutch Postcode Lottery. At the moment, there are charities lotteries operating in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany and Sweden.
Up to and including 2015, players in Novamedia’s lottery formats have raised a total of €7.2 Billion for thousands of good causes and social initiatives worldwide. Since December 2014, Novamedia/Postcode Lotteries have been the third biggest private donor in the world on a yearly basis after the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (USA) and The Wellcome Trust (GB).
Novamedia also undertakes activities in the field of publishing that contribute directly to well-informed citizens and to the pleasure of reading.
Novamedia has always been active through new and traditional media. For example, in the past it was co-owner of the Call Factory and Independent Media. And as former employees of Novib, the founders of Novamedia helped their organisation and others to raise funds in the nineteen-eighties and nineties. Novamedia is active in the publishing field with the following subsidiaries: Uitgeverij Nieuw Amsterdam (including book funds Wereldbibliotheek and Bas Lubberhuizen) and Fontaine Uitgevers, online bookstore ECI (founded in 1967 to stimulate reading in the Netherlands, which developed into a book club with webshop in the Netherlands and Belgium) and the Scheltema bookstore in Amsterdam.
In short, Novamedia wants to use its investments in lotteries and media to contribute to a fair and fine world.
