Books from Amsterdam’s famous bookstore available throughout the Netherlands

With the opening of the first of ten department stores approaching fast, Hudson’s Bay and the Scheltema bookstore today announced their partnership. A selection of books specifically chosen by Scheltema will be available for sale at the new department stores. During the second-half of August, Hudson’s Bay will open its first department store along the Rokin in the heart of Amsterdam. Hudson’s Bay’s opening in the Netherlands will be celebrated after 19 September.

Hudson’s Bay’s Director of Purchasing & Marketing Jacco van der Steen: “Specifically adjusted to the Dutch market, Hudson’s Bay is a unique and exciting addition to the Dutch department store landscape. We deliberately chose for Scheltema because they know exactly how to create an experience surrounding the sale of books. What’s more, the selection will be perfectly geared towards the needs of our guests. The books will be available at different locations throughout the department store and will reflect current events like Mother’s day, Christmas and the summer holiday period. With its unique position in the Dutch market, Scheltema is our perfect partner for books.”

Outlet Manager Scheltema Amsterdam Gretske de Jong: “The Scheltema bookstore has been an institution unique to Amsterdam since 1853. It’s fantastic that we will now be able to share our philosophy and love of books with customers throughout the Netherlands. We’re really looking forward to cooperating.”

This year, Hudson’s Bay will be opening a total of ten department stores across the country in Almere, Amsterdam, Breda, Den Bosch, The Hague, Leiden, Maastricht, Rotterdam, Tilburg and Zwolle. Scheltema’s books will be sold at these stores, as well as from the five additional department stores set to open their doors after this year.
