The results of the draws are announced during the popular television game show 'PostkodMiljonären' on TV4, the largest commercial TV channel in Sweden. In May 2010, the Postcode Millionaire was broadcast for the 400th time. The game show, based on the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ format, is broadcast every Friday and Saturday on Sweden’s largest commercial television channel TV4. It is hosted by Rickard Sjöberg, a well-known Swedish TV personality. On average, the show is watched by almost 1 million Swedes, making it one of the most popular programs in Sweden. In November 2010, the show had its’ fourth Millionaire.

The Friday show includes a feature with the weekly draw results and the postcode prizes, presented by Magdalena Graaf, Sandra Dahlberg or Kim Kärnfalk, who visit the winning neighborhood of that week. The Saturday show includes a short feature about one of the charities. On average, the show is watched by almost 1 million Swedes, making PostkodMiljonären one of the most popular programs in Sweden

Charity documentary

Each Saturday, a short feature about one of the charities is shown during the program. To mark the 21st anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a documentary series was broadcast on four evenings in December 2010. This year the theme was ‘Our Children’s Life’ and the aim was to raise awareness of the global situation with regard to children and show the amazing work that is done by the charity organizations supported by the lottery. ‘Our Children’s Life’ showed that there is hope.

If we all act together in a sustainable way, we can improve the lives of all children. On average, each of the four episodes were watched by more than 200.000 Swedes. This was the second time the Swedish PostcodeLottery made a charity documentary series, last time in 2008 the theme was ‘the PostcodeLottery makes a difference’ showing the variety of fields the Lottery’s beneficiaries work in and how the Lottery ticket money makes a difference in their work.Back...
