81.7 million euros to charity

The Swedish Postcode Lottery started in September 2005 and has since become very popular with the Swedes. The Swedish Postcode Lottery has had a revenue growth of 70% per year between 2006-2010, raising 732 million SEK for charities in 2010, which was 264 million SEK more than in 2009.

This tremendous growth has enabled the lottery to add 8 new beneficiaries in 2010, summing up the total number of beneficiaries to 35. The amount of money given to charities by the Swedish Postcode Lottery depends on the number of lottery tickets sold. 27 percent of the proceeds of each lottery ticket sold went to charity in 2010. The aim is to donate one billion to charity by 2011. Back...

Charity and commercial

The Swedish Postcode Lottery has both a commercial and a non-profit-making side. Responsibility for these two facets is divided between Novamedia Svenska PostkodLotteriet AB, which looks after the commercial side, and Svenska PostkodFöreningen, that attends to the non-profit-making side.

The Swedisch Postcode Lottery is run on a commercial basis by Novamedia Svenska PostkodLotteriet AB, which is also responsible for the commercial risk and the capital required for operating the Lottery.

Novamedia Svenska PostkodLotteriet AB operates the Swedish Postcode Lottery on the basis of a contract concluded with the Swedish Postcode Association. All beneficiaries of the Lottery are members of the Association.

The Board of the Association is composed of leading representatives from society and consists of five members and the lottery manager. Based on recommendations from the Charity Department, the Board decides on the addition of new beneficiaries as well as how the proceeds are to be distributed between the beneficiaries.

Novamedia Svenska PostkodLotteriet AB has run the Swedish Postcode Lottery since 2005. It is based in Stockholm and has a growing number of about 100 employees. The members of the Board of Directors are Boudewijn Poelmann, Ruud Esser and Eva Struving. Back...
