581 winners and 7 new millionairs in Karlskrona

- STOCKHOLM, 19 April 2010 - 75 million SEK was given out during the PostcodLottery’s GrannYra in Karlskrona today. When all checks were handed out it was clear that the winning town of Nättraby, just outside Karlskrona, had 581 winners of which 7 millionaires.

Thousands of people had gathered at Stumholmen in Karlskrona to participate and celebrate the winners of GrannYran. The host, Rickard Sjöberg, handed out checks and flowers and the group E.M.D. entertained on stage. There were a record number of winners in the winning zip code
370 24, 581 of which 7 in the postcode that got to share the major part of the money, 2/3 of the pot.

The 7 big winners live in the same postcode in Nättaby. Martina Hansson, Mariann Persson and Hasse Christiansen won 10 060 732 SEK each. Four persons scooped 5 030 336 SEK.

– It’s unbelievable, I have never seen so many numbers, a stunned Hasse Christiansen blurted out. He and his wife Jette wants to use the money to travel and Brazil is at the top of the wish list.

There were a lot of emotions on stage when Rickard Sjöberg handed out the checks. When Martina Hansson received the check of over 10 million SEK she couldn’t stop the tears of joy.

– It’s such an incredible amount of money. I joined the Lottery to give to charity and now I have won, she said.

The vision of the Postcode Lottery is to contribute to a better world for humans, animals and nature, and therefore gives the surplus to 27 different charity organizations. Since the start in 2005, the charity organizations have received over a billion SEK.

In addition to the 7 winners in the postcode, there were 574 winners in the zip code that received winning amounts on between 10 122 SEK up to 151 825 SEK.

The winners in the postcode share 2/3 of the pot. The remaining 1/3 goes to all the winners in the zip code. How large the winning amount is depends on the number of tickets one has and how long one has been participating in the Lottery.
