German Postcode Lottery
The German Postcode Lottery (Deutsche Postcode Lotterie) allocates 30 per cent of the ticket price to charitable causes that focus on education, social cohesion, human rights, and animal and environmental protection in the winners' federal state. A list of the first projects can be found on its website www.postcode-lotterie.de/projekte
The principle is simple: The player's postcode consists of the numbers that identify the city and two letters that identify the street. There is also a unique three-digit ticket number which enables players to take part in the drawing and secure their daily chances of winning. As in other countries, the German Postcode Lottery is a subscription lottery. Players take part until they cancel their subscription.
