Even more prize money 

In addition to the BookSpot Literature Prize, BookSpot will become the title sponsor of the Gouden Strop (Golden Noose) and Schaduwprijs (Shadow Award). BookSpot will be raising the prize money by awarding €1,000 to the BookSpot Gouden Strop nominees and the winner’s prize will be doubled from €10,000 to €20,000. And the prize money for the winner of the BookSpot Schaduwprijs will be doubled from €1,000 to €2,000.

As of 1 March, eci will continue as BookSpot. The change in name is a consequence of all changes that have taken place and will take place at eci. BookSpot.nl and BookSpot.be want to become the place of choice where everything focuses on books.


The ECI Literature Prize for the best Dutch-language literary book of the past year has gone to De mensengenezer by Koen Peeters. This year the prize was awarded for the 31st time by a jury consisting of Dutch and Flemish critics in the Theater aan het Spui in The Hague. In addition to a cash prize of €50,000, the author was also presented with the statue symbolising the award. Koen Peeters was also presented with the ECI Readers’ Prize earlier in the evening.


Books from Amsterdam’s famous bookstore available throughout the Netherlands

With the opening of the first of ten department stores approaching fast, Hudson’s Bay and the Scheltema bookstore today announced their partnership. A selection of books specifically chosen by Scheltema will be available for sale at the new department stores. During the second-half of August, Hudson’s Bay will open its first department store along the Rokin in the heart of Amsterdam. Hudson’s Bay’s opening in the Netherlands will be celebrated after 19 September.
